About The Welcome Mat Project
The Welcome Mat Project is a volunteer based organization dedicated to the enhancement in the quality of life for Seniors and their families. We believe that good old fashioned communication is the key. The Welcome Mat Project offers three ways to join other people with no cost or commitment.
Our mission is to be inclusive of all cultures and to provide a safe. non-judgemental enviroment where all seniors can feel value and can reach their potential and as a result enhance their quality of life.
We offer a fun and friendly way for Seniors to learn the computer at Carolyn's Internet Café @ http://www.welcomematproject.com
. We do not serve coffee - we serve friendship and knowledge. There is a little bit here for everyone and the site keeps growing with new members. Whether you are new at the computer or are well experienced - new members are welcomed.
The "Journey of Life" is a monthly newsletter that is written by seniors for seniors right here in Thunder Bay and District. Would you like to share a story, an interesting fact, a joke or a recipe ? Do you have an idea or a comment to share? You can contact ??? to submit an article or to have your name added to the mailing list free of charge.
Our latest endeavor is an Outreach Program with McKellar Park School. Together we are offering an "Adopt a Grandparent" program. Seniors and children will be linked together over a secure web site under the guidance of a teacher to share experiences and fun. This program is sure to grow. We already have children from British Columbia waiting to adopt a Thunder Bay grandparent - but, we need more grandparents - so come on and join us today!
