Welcome to North West Ontario Community Wiki/Network
(NWOntario.net)
What this site is about
NWOntario.net is a Wiki site dedicated to showcasing what North West Ontario (NWO) is about. The twist here is that the information is provided by the general public. Anyone that lives, works or visits in NWO are welcome to contribute to this wiki. Businesses/Organizations are a part of NWO thus they are also welcome to contribute information to this wiki as well (as long as it is not just an ad).
The goal of this site is to build an on-line community with information all about NWO, its people, communities, and resources (natural and industry). This information primarily will be in a form of web pages (wiki documents) created by the site members. This site also will have Articles, Blogs, Classifieds, Directory, Event Calendars, Forums, Galleries and other useful features. As you can tell this site will have something for everyone.
Who can take part
The site is open for the world to view and access, registered users have a little more access to some other features (ex: voting) than anonymous users and members have access to write their own content. Anyone can register on the site, however registration would be most useful to people that live or visit the region and membership is reserved for people that live in NWO (even if only part time) and/or businesses/organizations that operate within NWO.
If you have a story, experience or something else to share with the on-line community as a person, organization, public service, or even a business then I encourage you to take part in this site and show the world what NWO has to offer and there is NO cost to do this! Read the ReadMeFirst for more info.
Who is running this
This site is privately owned and operated by Wayne Schulz (admin) a resident of Thunder Bay, Ontario. This site was conceived in the beginning of 2011 and has been built and maintained by him since.
The site is still in the 'beta' phase of development and the admin would welcome any input on making this site better. Also because this site is still a work in progress, please let him know if there are any problems using the site.
Living in Thunder Bay, Wayne has been updating and keeping the Thunder Bay part of the site active. There are other community sections of this site and the admin is looking for volunteers from each of the communities to help maintain and keep active their community section of the site.
BTW: Their are also virtual communities in this site as well such as snowmobilers' and The Welcomemat Project. Looking for volunteers to help maintain them or perhaps you have a virtual community you would like to start here - contact the admin for more info.
