Welcome to my Wiki Page!


Being the administrator, I am always working on something to make this site better. So far this is what I have done:

  • New Feature - Automatic sub-domain! What that? Instead of using www.nwontario.net/wiki/~psa you can use psa.nwontario.net to go to that page. When you create your wiki, you have your own direct web address. This feature is also on the 807area domains.
  • TikiWiki (CMS) - Upgraded from Tiki 7.x to Tiki 8.x, Some minor feature changes, bug fixes and security patches. If you find something not working or not working right, please let me know.
  • Added 'Edit' links to the '~UserName' Wiki Page links to make it easier to get to the Wiki Editor for the user to edit their own Wiki Page.
  • Major Upgrade! Upgraded from Tiki 3.x to Tiki 7.x, this upgrade will add some new cool features (see if you can spot them).
  • Added community groups, now by joining your community group you can have added features that are for that community only (ex: weather feature set to your community).
  • Installed a 'web ticker' to advise all visiting the site what is the latest of what is happening.
  • Added 'Twitter Feeds' Get the latest 'NWO' talk directly from Twitter on our site.
  • Created a mobility mode for this site for making it easier to access content on your smart phone.
  • Added weather reports from The Weather Network and Environment Canada.
  • Added Northwestern Ontario Road Conditions report from Ministry of Transportation Ontario.
  • Added Chat Rooms via OpenDiscussion.ca chat services.
  • Added Web Classifieds services via OutrightClassifieds.com site.
  • Added 'P.A.' (Public Announcement) System, works something like a Facebook wall or Twitter, however not only set up to broadcast on our website, it also broadcasts in RSS, Facebook, Twitter and other feeds. Replaced by new Social Networking features of Tiki7.


I'm not stopping there, looking for other awesome features to add to the site and of coarse continuing my ongoing duties as admin (bug fixes, spam control, assisting members).
